Thanks. The perspective is supposed to be looking up at her, I guess I need to make this more obvious. Thank you.

Hehe, all with time, though I suck at pumpkins XD

You might want to see about the arms though, both of them seem a little off. Her left hand is a bit small, and the upper arm is too thin. The whole arm looks a little too short. Her right arm seems to be twisted in a way that wouldnt really work. The face of the pumpkin should be made more obvious and potentially scary. As you said though, its a prelim sketch, I dont know how much work you put into your first sketch-up, I tend to work on it quite a bit myself but we're all different. I'm looking forward to your piece a lot!
Nice crit, just prelim yes. About 20-30mins work so nothing special obviously. I'll take a look at the anatomy if i decide to go with this one.

Also here's another sketch I was working on at the same time. Worked on the BG a lil more. For a sketch it's huge though :/ Already 4000x6000 and over 10 layers! This is not a good start! XD

Hey everyone! I had some spare time today while working on my project for this particular contest, so I sketched up something extra. This is not my submission, as only one is allowed, but I'd like to share it with you.

This is my ranger trick-or-treating with her son. I know, I'm not very artistic, I have little to no talent, but I thought I'd share it with everyone and see what you thought. hehe

Sorry that it's so small, I kind of had to use a "base" model and that's as big as I could get it. But like I said, it isn't an actual submission; it's just for fun.

Here is a work in progress of my actual submission for this contest:

And a closeup:

@Taurus Just an idea, but you could check some hobby and craft stores in the beads and jewelry findings section to add into her hair as ornaments. When I was doing miniatures I found some awesome things in those sections. Are you going to repaint her lips?

I switched to original Jora, more details to play around with, which is what I feel most like doing right now. I'll be using in-game Jora for reference, probably.

This is some of the armour (arm-guards) curing. Not hugely interesting as you can't tell what the final result will be from this, but... there are some shapes to behold? o.O
I dunno. I'll post more stuff tomorrow, when I get to paint the darn things. *hates to wait*

Waiting is really the hardest part, isnt it? I'm really looking forward to more progress pics! Have you picked out what you will use for the brown fabric yet? At the Joann stores around here they have an embossed felt and at the Walmarts they have an embossed suede/pleather like thing which might work. (Yeah, I really like making things so if I get ideas I'm probably going to just fire them off. Just a wee bit excitable. )

are you going to dress up as JORA Tzu? That would be so totally appropriate, seeing as how both of you are derived from the same stock :P

I couldn't stand waiting to paint something like that, I'd lose patience and do half way through the curing and then ruin it. >_< I love those arm guards, I'm curious what you're using to make those? They look absolutely stunning in my opinion, and I can't wait to see how much better they look once they're painted! I also hope you don't have to cook anything soon. :P

@ Taurus, Nice job on the Druid armor! I'm curious to see what you'll use to make the twiggy parts. And that's a really cute drawing you have by the way.

@ kiya: haha, I'm the same XD
As I'm currently based in the middle of the mountains, in Norway, I have kinda a limited selection of fabrics to choose from @.@'' ... I don't have time to import anything either. I'll probably use brown pleather, and some gold 3d paint I've got left over from something else. The brown, short-haired fur I'll have to buy (or actually hunt! >.<'' j/k btw) but otherwise I'm more of less set to make the rest. Oh, and... urgh... I'll have to make the fat chains on her loin-cloth by hand Q.Q.. they don't sell plastic versions that thick anywhere (been looking for ages) and iron is too heavy. So have to fashion each link from FIMO by hand >.<''

@ YSJ: XD haha, it doesn't really score me any extra points in this competition, but I can speak some old norse! X3

@ Op.14: yeah, it's kinda 3 am over here, so I doubt Ill need the stove XD... and my patience is very limited too, it's just I know from experience that I better keep my hands off or I WILL ruin them. I usually make armour from either craft foam (fun foam?) or any foam that resembles it, plastazote or such. Any kind of thermoplastic will do. I'm making Jora from left-overs, so my materials will vary, but those arm guards pictured here are made from craft foam.

Silly me, didnt look at your location. When I made my dervish costume my husband found the plastic chain at one of the large hardware stores. Maybe you could make chains out of Model Magic? It would be lighter than FIMO.

For people new to craft foam armor, here is a good tutorial. http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper...helmsdeep.html

@ Kiya - Yep, I've got some accessories for her hair that I will be adding. I may repaint her lips, as they are pretty bright. hehe I don't know quite yet, as I don't have much skill in the painting department, and on that? Well, I believe that if it's not done properly it's pretty much ruined.

I was originally going to shorten her hair, but with that particular style, it would just poof and go all over the place; but no matter, it'll still closely resemble my ranger, and there is a hair style in Prophecies that looks similar to it as well (the one with the lilac lily in her hair).

@ Operative: Thanks! I've got a few ideas on how to make the sticks and leaves; that'll be no easy task I'm sure. hehe But it'll be worth the challenge in the end.

I'm also going to make Urgoz's Longbow, as that was my first bow I obtained that was high priced (back when it was worth 80k) and I was so proud to own it, as it complemented the elite druid armor perfectly. I also have a little figure that would work for her pet. *gets back to work*

Oh, and thanks for your compliment on my drawing too; I couldn't resist. Been wanting to do that for a while, and finally got around to it.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

tired now, couldn't finish it, but here's the start of the paint job:

both will be finished tomorrow.

@ kiya: FIMO is the only thing they sell over here ^.^'

about the tut, it's very good indeed, but I'd like to advice beginners especially (though I would reccomend it for everyone) NOT to use hot glue for detailing. I've used it a couple of times, and it's never worth it.
It requires that you have a sturdy hand, extreme patience, do not get angry when you f*ck up (and you WILL, believe me), do not use your finger as a corrector, and expertise in reloading your glue gun with your mouth. I've only got the latter down, as it were.

EDIT: I realize I should have explained; I was referring to a different tut when it comes to the hot glue detailing part. I believe there's a link to it on her site.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFF I just had to drain my bank account buying textbooks and I don't think my mom will approve of me using the money I have to borrow from her for gas and food until I get paid next to purchase fabric. So there's a possibility this will end up a seriously last-minute deal >.<

I'm going to have to go rummaging through my leftover costume bits and see what fabrics I can scrounge up so I can at least get a start on since I don't get paid again for two weeks...

Yeah I tried the hot gluing method with Zinn's shoulder piece. Seeing as I cant draw a straight line... not something I really want to try again. Hot glue can be evil too.
